Life skills training 2021
“Life skills are the abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life” -World Health Organization, 1993
As a commitment towards youth policy of Karnataka, 2012, the NSS state wing of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka in collaboration with the Department of Epidemiology, Centre for Public Health, NIMHANS is implementing a 6-day program on life skills training and counseling services for NSS officers, coordinators and other teaching staff in various colleges and universities in Karnataka.
This program gears towards bringing positive change in the lives of youths in Karnataka by empowering them with a set of essential life skills and counseling services through their NSS (National Service Scheme) coordinators and other teaching faculty in various colleges and universities in Karnataka trained in imparting such education. Any other interested candidates may also apply for the training with minimal fees (which includes accommodation, food, and training of 6 days).
So far, we have trained 2774 NSS coordinators, officers, and teaching faculty across Karnataka. Trained participants have conducted 1266 Lifeskills sensitization programs in their respective colleges and have reached 4,67,634 youth throughout Karnataka. Come, let us be a part of empowering the youth of our state.
