I am very much delighted and pleased to learn that the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, in association with the National Service Scheme and NIMHANS, is organizing YUVA SPANDANA, a program to build the youth physically and mentally strong.
Youth is a critical and transitional phase in the life cycle of human development. During this phase, they are faced with different health challenges ranging from physical, mental, social, and psychological. Further, these problems are aggravated by today’s Competitive World, Which in turn is fuelled by the fear of the future, heightened expectations, and pressure to achieve. These factors influence the overall development of youth and can have an adverse impact on their life.
Youth constitute more than one-third of the population in Karnataka. They are our vital human resource. Their energies should be channelized in the right direction and utilized for nation-building activities. In realization of this need, Karnataka has formulated a Youth Policy, with a vision to reach, engage and empower the youth of our State to facilitate all-round development of the society we live in.
Yuva Spandana, a novel initiative, is a logical outcome of our youth policy. It demonstrates the commitment of our Government towards the overall development of youth.
I am proud that Yuva Spandana, which is the first of its kind program in the country. Being implemented under the scheme ‘family first and family always‘, it aims to promote enabling environment both within and outside the family. In addition, the services of Yuva Spandana are provided through youth (Yuva Parivarthakas and Yuva Mithras) in a friendly atmosphere free of cost. I appeal to the youth of Karnataka to make the best use of Yuva Spandana services and be benefitted.
I take this opportunity to congratulate the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports for implementing this unique program. I wish to appreciate the Director of NIMHANS and Center for Public Health, Department of Epidemiology at NIMHANS for their technical support in developing and implementing this innovative program.
I wish Yuva Spandana, a grand success!
