I am Manjula. Ours is a very poor family. My father is a mercenary worker. I am the eldest of his three daughters. I am studying in P U C. My father has asked me to stop going to the college as he had no money to pay my college feels. When I tried to make him understand the importance of education, he started abusing and shut me up. I did not know what to do when he asked me to stop studying and stay at home. This made me incredibly sad. When I shared this with my mother, she also supported my father’s decision. So I started earning by working in the evening at a shop after college. They used to pay Rs. 2000. But it was not enough. Finally, I had to leave the college. I did not know what to do.
During this, I had met a Yuva Parivarthakas who had organised Yuva Spandana awareness program in our college and I thought I could receive any solution in Yuva Spandna Kendra. I visited Yuva Spandana Kendra and Yuva Samalochaki welcomed me with a smile. I was made comfortable which helped in sharing my problems. She reassured me that my problems can be solved by myself and discussed all the possible solutions along with me. Along with Yuva Samalochaki, I thought of continuing my studies as well as helping my family financially. One of the ideas was to reduce mine and my sisters’ monthly expenses.
Since I worked part time, it was not that difficult and I decided to extend the time of work. Along with that, Yuva Samalochaki gave me information related to scholarship availabilities and I applied for the same. I encouraged my sister and mother to join me in making handicrafts at home. Currently, I am going to college and working part time to help my family. My sincere thanks to Yuva Spandana, which made it possible. Thank you Yuva Spandana.
