Resource Mapping:
Resource mapping is the directory of information about organizations and professionals providing different services for various issues amongst youth within the district. These resources are mapped by Yuva Parivarthakas (YP)/Yuva Samalochakas(YS) and Field Liaison Officer (FLO)s based on need. These resources are included in a digitized resource mapping directory. These resources are utilized whenever required depending on the client’s need. Appropriate referrals for clients in need will be provided utilizing this digitized resource mapping directory.
Resource mapping on a case-by-case basis:
As of now, we have resource mapped around 3,600 organizations/individuals across Karnataka. All the resources mapped are related to the 6 issues (Education and career, Health and Lifestyle, Relationships, Personality development, Gender, sex, and sexuality & Safety Issues) which are addressed under the program Yuva Spandana. It is true that some clients attending YSKs report to have some issue/problem for which we do not have resources. Resource mapping is conducted to pool such resources.
In this regard, Yuva Samalochakas note down the type of resource/s that needs to be mapped on a case-by-case basis and communicate FLOs immediately. FLOs discuss the same with Field Coordinators (FC) and provide a plan to map specific resources to YPs during the subsequent monthly plans. Further, the M&E officer looks into the resources and guide FCs to get resources specific to 6 issues addressed under the program Yuva Spandana.
Crisis Management:
A crisis is a situation that is intensely difficult or dangerous for the client or his/her family/friends/to handle/manage. It may require an important or difficult decision to be made. In the phase of potentially stressful situations, an individual may experience a personal crisis. Some events that can precipitate personal crisis are the death of a loved one, failure in examination, domestic violence, sudden financial loss, loss of job, etc. During a personal crisis, an individual may start feeling overwhelmed. The client may show one or more of the following reactions during a crisis:
- Experience Loss of Control
- Feel Lonely and Unsupported
- Feel Hopelessness
- Feel Suicidal
- Experience Restlessness
- Sad
- Raised Heart Beat
- Shaky Hands
- Reduced Sleep
- Decreased Need for Food
- Anger
- Suicidal Thoughts
During such situations, individuals tend to feel very disturbed and vulnerable to taking an extreme step in their life. Hence, it is recommended to conduct a risk assessment for every client irrespective of whether they express the above feelings or experiences.

Personality Development:
Personality is the form of both physical and psychological characteristics of an individual. The personality features may change due to internal and external situational demands. Hence, personality is adaptive to situations. Once we are able to characterize someone’s personality, we can predict how that individual behaves in various situations/circumstances. Having an understanding of the ‘Personality’ of individuals will allow us to deal with people in realistic & acceptable ways.
For example, when there is a friend or colleague of us who does not like orders, the most effective way to deal with that friend or colleague will be not to give any orders instead talking warmly with them and get the things done; similarly, the one who has feelings of inferiority needs to be treated differently from the one who is self-confident. And also if any youth who required support to develop their personalities or if they have any issues related to personality may visit Yuva Spandana Kendra of their respective districts to get further guidance.
