I am Shankar and I am 21 years old. I am studying degree. From the beginning, it was very difficult for me to socialize with new people. Therefore, I never had friends. I had participated in the annual cultural event in our college and I met a girl there. She used to talk with me and laugh on my jokes. We became friends with each other. As days passed, we became very close to each other and she wished to spend her time with me after college hours. Friendship had turned into love. It was difficult for me to maintain a relationship with her as she was forcing me into physical relationship. This has made me very uncomfortable. As I had social anxiety, physically being close to someone made me even more anxious. I lost my interest in studies thinking about this. I even felt difficult to go to college. I did not have any other friends to share this issue with. I was having very hard time dealing with this problem.
Yuva Spandana had organised an awareness program in our college. I visited Yuva Spandana Kendra hoping to receive solution. When I visited the centre, I felt embarrassed to share my problem as I was already feeling shy about it. But Yuva Samalochaka spoke to me very nicely and made me aware of the confidentiality maintained by Yuva Spandana Kendra. I slowly started talking about myself, my interests, my life and finally I was comfortable to share what I was going through. They listened to me very carefully. When they got to know about my problem, they referred me to a consultant who was willing to help me cope with this problem. I spoke with the consultant and got my problem solved. Later, I directly spoke with the girl about the problem and treatment I was going through. She understood the problems and encouraged me to be strong.
Further, I regained focus on my studies and passed my graduation examination with good marks. I was confused regarding my further education. Again I visited Yuva Spandana Kendra and they guided me in the right direction. I thank Yuva Samalochaka who was patient and cooperated with me in my every problem. I wish Youth like me to make use of the program and succeed in life.
