My name is Shakunthala. We are very poor but there was no limitation for our happiness. My children were studying in a Government school and they were excelling in both studies and extracurricular activities. Meanwhile, my daughter started behaving differently. Currently, she is 16 years old. She never used to come out of her room as her behavioural problems elevated. She did not come out to have food as well. Her sleep and appetite decreased. My neighbours advised and suggested a lot of remedies. We took her to many temples and performed poojas. All the neighbours started talking about us and stopped sending their children to visit our house. We were disheartened and unknown of what to be done.
During this time, we got to know about Yuva Spandana Kendra through a known person. We visited Yuva Spandana Kendra. The people at Yuva Spandana warmly welcome us and behaved respectfully. After patiently listening to our problems, they made us understand our daughter was going through a mental health-related problem which needed appropriate treatment. We were relieved to know that there was a solution to our daughter’s problems. Also, along with the treatment, we got to know how we needed to behave with our daughter. Further, they gave us information related to different mental health centres. We availed the treatment in one of the chosen hospitals. Currently, she has been hospitalized.
After all these, the house owner had forced us to vacate the house. We had to vacate the house immediately. Financially we were not strong enough to buy or rent a house. As a result, we were thinking of going back to our native place. However, post-discharge, we could not take our daughter to our home. We were planning her admitting or placing her in any hospital free of cost. Again, we were unknown of where and how to take her. Therefore, we were referred to few available resources by Yuva Samalochaka. According to their guidance, we visited Manasa center and have enquired about their services. They have agreed to provide the required help. I heartily thank Yuva Spandana Kendra for all this guidance and help.
